Privacy Policy
Last Update: September 1st, 2026
This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what choices you have.
Information We Collect
- Account Information: nickname, email address, and salted password hash
- Profile content: your bio, profile links, profile picture, and banner image
- Posts and activity: posts, tags, comments, likes, follows, blocks, and muted tags
- Reports: if you report a post, comment, or profile, we store the reason, your optional description, and who filed it
- Technical data: a session cookie to keep you signed in, and a temporary token from Cloudflare Turnstile to confirm you're not a bot when signing up or posting
We dod not run or intend to run advertising on Kajitsu. In the future, we may use self-hosted analytics to understand how people use the site and what can be improved.
How We Use Your Data
- Operating your account (sign-in, password/email recovery, 2FA)
- Displaying your content to other users as intended (posts, comments, profile)
- Transactional emails: account verification, password recovery, email changes, and notifications
- Reviewing reports and enforcing rules
- Securing the platform against abuse, spam, and bot activity
We use a session cookie required to keep you logged in, and a CSRF-protection mechanism to secure form submissions. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
We share a very limited amount of data with third party services that help us keep the platform running:
- Mailgun: Your email address, email content
- Cloudflare R2: Images/videos you upload
- Cloudflare Turnstile: Browser challenge data (no personal data from us)
Data Retention and Deletion
Deactivating your account will hide it and put it in a pending state. It will be as if your account doesn't exist until you reactivate it. You need to confirm via email to reactivate.
Terminating erases your account and all associated content. This is permanent and irreversible. You will need to confirm via email to terminate your account.
Uploaded media files are removed as part of this cleanup; in rare cases orphaned files may take longer to clear from storage.
Your Choices
Access/update: edit your profile, email, or password from account settings.
Delete: deactivate or permanently terminate your account at any time.
Control visibility: block other users or mute tags you don't want to see.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (e.g. under GDPR or CCPA) to access, export, or delete your data. Email us and we'll do our best to help, regardless of your location.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as Kajitsu evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do; continuing to use Kajitsu after changes take effect means you accept them. We will notify users of major changes via email and/or a site-wide notification.
